Read before using hired equipment

Use it properly. Stop when it isn’t right.

Read the equipment-specific guide before use, check the machine and work area, and keep control of the job. This page gives the shared Lakeside rules—the instructions supplied with your exact equipment always take priority.

Fault, damage, leak, burning smell or unexpected behaviour? Stop immediately. Switch off and disconnect or isolate the equipment where it is safe to do so. Do not repair it, dismantle it or keep testing it. Contact Lakeside and explain what happened.
Report a fault

Six rules that cover every hire.

Product instructions add detail, but these responsibilities remain in place throughout the hire period.

01

Read the exact guide

Check the quick-start, warnings, controls and permitted use for the machine and attachments supplied with your booking.

Before switching on
02

Check the machine

Look for unexpected damage, missing guards or attachments, damaged cables, loose parts, leaks or anything that differs from the handover record.

Report concerns first
03

Prepare the work area

Remove avoidable hazards and keep children, pets, bystanders, vehicles and property outside the operating area.

Clear and controlled
04

Use only as intended

Use approved attachments, consumables and settings. Do not remove guards, labels or safety devices, and never modify the machine.

No improvising
05

Be fit to operate

Do not use equipment when alcohol, drugs, medication, tiredness or a health condition makes safe control unlikely.

Stay capable
06

Stop when unsure

Unexpected noise, smell, heat, vibration, loss of control or poor performance is a reason to stop—not a challenge to keep pushing.

Allow it to coolWhere relevant, make the equipment safe before transport or handling.
