Before the hire

Booking and payment.

06 answers
How do I book equipment?

Choose an item from the equipment page, select the available hire dates, add it to the basket, review the ten hire statements and complete secure checkout.

When is my booking confirmed?

The booking is secured when the payment is successfully completed. Your account then shows the booking and the next required steps.

Do you take a large security deposit?

A large deposit is not added to the normal checkout total. The hire price, delivery charge where applicable and any selected extras are shown before payment.

Can I book more than one machine?

Yes, when the machines and dates are available. Each item in the basket remains subject to its own availability and hire details.

Can I extend the hire?

Possibly. Contact Lakeside before the original return time. An extension is subject to availability and the additional hire cost, because another customer may already have the equipment booked.

Can I cancel or change my dates?

Contact Lakeside as early as possible. What can be changed or refunded depends on the timing, availability and the cancellation terms shown for the booking.

Named hirer

Identity and handover.

06 answers
Why do I need to verify my identity?

Hired equipment is released to a named customer who is responsible throughout the hire. The secure identity check helps confirm that the booking and handover belong to the right person.

What does the identity check involve?

The first check normally asks for valid photo ID and a quick camera check. It is completed securely through the connected verification provider.

Will I need to verify again?

Most customers complete the full check once. Lakeside may request periodic re-verification, a refreshed check after changed details or proof of address for a higher-value or unusual hire.

What is the quick handover face check?

Close to collection or delivery, Lakeside may ask for a short face check to confirm that the person receiving the equipment matches the identity verified earlier.

Can somebody else collect the equipment?

The equipment is released to the named verified hirer. Contact Lakeside before handover when the customer details genuinely need to change.

What happens during collection or delivery?

The named hirer is checked, the equipment condition and accessories are recorded, and the customer receives the relevant quick-start and safety information.

Getting the equipment

Collection and delivery.

05 answers
Is collection available?

Yes. Local collection is normally the simplest option and can make the handover timing more flexible.

Do you deliver?

Local delivery may be available around Barrow-in-Furness and surrounding areas. It depends on the address, equipment and route availability.

How much is delivery?

The available delivery option and charge are shown during the booking before payment. Lakeside does not use one pretend fixed price for every address and machine.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

Yes. The named verified hirer must be present. Hired equipment is not left unattended outside or with an unverified person.

What access information should I provide?

Tell Lakeside about parking restrictions, stairs, narrow entrances, gates or anything else that could affect a safe handover.

During the hire

Safe use and support.

06 answers
Where do I find the instructions?

Quick-start, safety and troubleshooting information is available through the equipment guidance supplied for the hire. Check it before using the machine.

What should I do if the equipment looks unsafe?

Stop using it immediately, switch it off safely and contact Lakeside. Do not continue using equipment that is damaged, leaking, behaving unusually or otherwise unsafe.

What should I do if a fault develops?

Stop, make the equipment safe and report the fault promptly. Explain what happened and include photographs or video when useful.

Can another person use the equipment?

The named hirer remains responsible for the equipment throughout the booking. Anyone using it must be capable, supervised where appropriate and follow the supplied safety guidance.

What happens if I damage the equipment?

Report it promptly and honestly. Lakeside will use the handover and return evidence to assess what happened and explain any reasonable repair or replacement charge.

What if the equipment is stolen?

Contact Lakeside immediately and report the theft to the police. The named hirer remains responsible in line with the hire terms until the matter is resolved.

Ending the hire

Returns, cleaning and charges.

07 answers
How clean does the equipment need to be?

Return it ready for the next customer. Empty dirty-water tanks or debris, wipe the machine and clean the supplied tools as instructed.

What must I return with the machine?

Every supplied hose, tool, attachment, charger, cable and accessory recorded at handover must come back with it.

What happens if I am running late?

Contact Lakeside before the return time. Early notice gives us a chance to protect the next booking and agree what happens. Additional hire charges may apply when the booking runs over.

Can I be charged for cleaning or missing accessories?

Yes, when the equipment is returned unusually dirty, not ready to use or incomplete. Any charge should reflect the work, loss or replacement involved and be explained.

How is the return recorded?

The return time, visible condition and accessories are checked. Lakeside then completes the post-hire inspection, testing and maintenance record.

What counts as normal wear?

Ordinary wear from correct use is not treated as customer damage. Damage, misuse, missing parts and unusual cleaning are considered separately using the evidence from both handovers.

How do I report a problem after the hire?

Use the Contact page and include the booking details, a clear description and any useful photographs. Lakeside will review the records and respond with the next step.
